The monument dedicated to the queen consort of France and daughter of Grand Prince of Rus Yaroslav the Wise Anna Yaroslavna will be installed in Toulouse the next spring as the press service of the Kyiv Major Vitaly Klitschko reported.
The monument is the master copy of the sculpture that is installed at Lviv Square in Kyiv in November 2016. The replica of the sculpture was transferred to the city authorities of Toulouse by Kyiv Major Vitaly Klitschko.
‘Kyiv and Toulouse are connected not only by 40 years of the town twinning but also by the common history of two countries. And we will do everything to make people remember either in Ukraine and France’, Klitschko claimed.
Toulouse Mayor’s Office plans to install the monument in spring 2018 near one of the churches in the historic area of the city.
There is already one monument to Anna Yaroslavna installed in 2005 in Senlis, the suburb of Paris.
The dispute on the origin of queen consort of France Anna Yaroslavna took place between Ukraine and Russia in May 2017. President of Russia Vladimir Putin called her to be Russian at the meeting with President of France Emmanuel Macron. President Petro Poroshenko objected the words of the Russian president and the discussion continued at the foreign ministries level and became the ground for the Twitter-battles between the official accounts of Ukraine and Russia.
