Today, Dnipropetrovsk Region State Administration opened a brand-new modern kindergarten in Obukhivka village. Valentyn Reznichenko, Dnipropetrovsk region governor, said this establishment is unique in Ukraine. It is energy-efficient, it has an original architecture, modern design, furniture and everything required for children to develop in harmony. Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister Hennadiy Zubko took part in the opening ceremony.

“This kindergarten completely corresponds with the new state norms, which we made closer to the European ones. These are engineer decisions, solar generators, boiler room on an alternative fuel. Dnipropetrovsk region shows an appropriate approach to the construction of pre-school institutions, the way to implement a large-scale infrastructure project with funding from the local budget. We can propose such a project to the other regions as well”.

According to Reznichenko, this kindergarten was built on a wasteland in one year.

“It’s a breakthrough. Ukraine has never seen children facilities of such level – original, comfortable, with modern tendencies in design. Decentralization, the reform of Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko, provides us with such opportunities,” Reznichenko noted.

Olexiy Valentyrov, an architect from Dnipro, has developed the project “under a Swedish pattern,” as Dnipropetrovsk Region Administration called it. The kindergarten has huge windows, it provides the connection of the interior with the landscape.

“It’s a myth that the building with big windows cannot be warm and power efficient. Houses in the countries with “sever” climate, like Sweden, Denmark, Norway, have such windows. The main thing is to plan the construction. The front of the kindergarten faces the south, and there are special sheds. In summer, when the sun is high, the building doesn’t overheat. And vice versa, “low” winter summer additionally heats up the premises. This is the first kindergarten in Ukraine constructed under such technology,” Valentyrov said.

Some other energy-efficient technologies were used during the construction: there are solar batteries on the roof, it also has its own alternative boiler house. The kindergarten also has music and sports halls. The yard has a pavilion, which protects it from the sun, and a big playground.

No more grey buildings with endless halls. The news kindergartens will be built only under modern projects,” Yuriy Golyk, the Advisor of the Chairman of Dnipropetrovsk Region State Administration.
