The implementation of Minsk Agreements is being hampered as Ukrainian authority does not have the political will, as the Head of the Political Council of Opposition Platform – For Life Viktor Medvedchuk in Strasbourg under the invitation of the members of the European Parliament at the presentation of his peace plan on settlement of the situation in Donbas.
“Obviously the reason is one – the absence of political will for the solution of the conflict in Eastern Ukraine and for reaching peace. This task was related to the fact that the previous authority did not want this peace as it followed the policy of anti-Russian hysteria, they didn’t want peace in Donbas. Moreover, these people, who were in Donbas, would never vote for them, that’s why they took such position – a “wait and see” position or a “non-peace, non-talks” position to cease battle actions,” he said.
“And the new (authority, - ed.) – we are waiting, as no steps were taken, the only positive moment is that after we were talking about this and we stated that only through a dialogue and only through direct talks we can set peace in Donbas, direct talks with Donetsk, Luhansk, talks with Moscow, Zelensky decided to talk to Putin, and this is a positive moment as this dialogue began, we will expect and we are waiting for this dialogue to be successful in peace question, and return of prisoners kept in Donetsk, Luhansk and Russia,” he added.
On July 28, the co-chairman of Opposition Platform – For Life Vadym Raninovich and his party fellow Nestor Shufrich presented a peace plan on Donbas conflict settlement to the French Senator Nathalie Goulet in Luxembourg palace.
