Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine

The Ministry of Internal Affairs wants to start issuing the first driving license the person ever obtains for two years, as Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said in a governmental meeting.

“Our next suggestion is to make amendments into the order of issuing driver licenses, by which it is to be stipulated that the driving license received for the first time is valid for two years. If during these two years the person doesn’t break the traffic rules more than two times or doesn’t break them at all, after the time runs out the person will be given the driving license valid for 30 years, without additional exams,” he said.

Otherwise, in order to receive the driving license valid for 30 years, the person will have to pass the examination again.

Apart from that, the Ministry suggests introducing a speed limit of 50 km/h, instead of current 60 km/h, in cities, towns, and villages.
