Enhanced lockdown in Ukraine may be introduced in early January 2021. This was announced by the chief sanitary doctor of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko during a meeting with journalists on December 5, reports Radio Liberty.
According to him, three dates in early January are now being considered, and the exact date for the introduction of quarantine should be announced at a government meeting on Wednesday, December 9
It is noted that, unlike the full lockdown, which was in the spring, transport, hotels and ski resorts will operate in January. Grocery stores will also continue to operate. At the same time, the government plans to completely ban the work of food outlets, only delivery will be allowed. It is also planned to close schools, kindergartens, gyms and entertainment centers. With epidemiological restrictions, temples may be allowed to operate.
Lyashko noted that these are indicative restrictions, and the government will finally decide on quarantine measures next week. According to forecasts, a three-week quarantine can significantly reduce the daily growth of patients.
Earlier, Health Minister Maxym Stepanov said that he would recommend to the government to introduce a full lockdown in the country from the beginning of January.
It is planned that the future lockdown will last three weeks. The Cabinet of Ministers will discuss the format of strict quarantine at a meeting on Wednesday, December 9.
