Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine will cooperate with heads of diplomatic missions on the issue of implementation of language part of the education law, as Ukraine’s Minister of Education Liliya Grynevych said, according to Interfax Ukraine.
“(We) agreed to cooperate on the plan of implementation of the article on the language of education,” she said.
Today Liliya Grynevych met heads of diplomatic missions to Ukraine in order to discuss the content and specifics of the recently passed by the Parliament law bill on education. According to Deputy Head of Ukraine’s MFA Volodymyr Prystaiko, consuls of 11 countries were present at the meeting, as well as officials from the EU, the Council of Europe, and the OSCE.
The education law accepted by the Ukrainian Parliament makes the state language the language of educational process in Ukraine. Some countries, among which Hungary, Moldova, Russia, and Romania, are concerned over this new law, stating that it violates the rights of ethnic minorities.
