Female soldiers will wear boots instead of the high-heels at the parade dedicated to Independence Day; however, the shoes will be with heels anyway as Ukraine 24 TV channel reported citing adviser of Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on gender issues Viktoria Arnautova.
“The high-heels showed on the photo belong to everyday shoes, not for the parade. However, the document was recently signed on another kind of shoes. It will the boots only for the parade. It is planned that the women will march in boots with the height of heels 5.4 mm (+/- 2mm), according to the relevant documentation,” Arnautova reported.
The adviser also noted that at the scandalous photos, the students of the Military Institute of the Taras Shevchenko National University wear every day parade high-heels with 7cm-height to get used to the height. The students will get new shoes, with lower heels and covered ankle cuff until Independence Day.
Earlier, we reported that during the parade on Independence Day, female servicemen will march in heels. Social media users immediately started to criticize the idea noting that this would turn the military parade into a "farce," and it is contrary to NATO values and creates absolute inequality between men and women. Particularly, some parliamentarians presented Defense Minister Andriy Taran with some high-heeled shoes.
The military parade dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Independence of Ukraine on August 24 at Khreshchatyk.
