A military man of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a victim of today’s car blast in Kyiv’s Solomensky district. Artem Shevchenko, the Communications Department of the Ministry of Interior, reported that to the journalists on the crime scene.
"A man died in a car blast. Due to the fact that he is an active serviceman, apparently the prosecutor's office shall define the investigative jurisdiction of the criminal case on terrorist attack, initiated by the Chief Department of Kyiv National Police. Due to the fact that a victim is an acting serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the investigative jurisdiction is very likely to be changed. The other victim is an elderly man, he was taken to the hospital by the ambulance with no threat to his life,” Shevchenko stated.
Shevchenko also noted that the detonation device exploded in the car.
"The type of the device, it’s yield, whether it was a self-made or statical explosive device will be defined after investigative measures taken," Shevchenko said.
He also added that a victim is a serviceman born in 1978.
The police investigation team, the Security Service of Ukraine and prosecutor’s office representatives are working at the scene, according to Artem Shevchenko.
