Militants of the “LDNR” have included 18 Russians into their list for the prisoner exchange in Donbas, as a participant of the humanitarian subgroup in the Minsk Trilateral Contact Group Viktor Medvedchuk told Novaya gazeta in an interview.
“As of today, representatives of Donetsk and Luhansk have yet again included all citizens of Russia (18 people whom I named earlier) into their lists for exchange,” he said.
Medvedchuk also added that he was working on releasing Ukrainians who are detained in Russia, including Oleg Sentsov, Stanislav Klykh, Mykola Karpiuk, Roman Sushchenko, Oleksandr Kolchenko, and Pavlo Gryb.
“And there are also Russian and Ukrainian border guards. You know as well as I do, I have conducted negotiations with Russian authorities as to releasing Ukrainian citizens. This way, Savchenko, Afanasiev, and Soloshenko were released. This negotiation process continues,” he said.
As we reported earlier, the last big exchange of prisoners took place in Donbas on Dec. 27. Then, 73 Ukrainians were released in exchange for 233 militants. The parties discussed the possibility of the next one and submitted the lists of individuals on Jan. 18 in Minsk.
