Mikheil Saakashvili returns in Georgia after eight years abroad

Former president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili has reported that he arrived in his motherland for the first time since 2013 as he wrote on Facebook.

“Good morning, Georgia; from Georgia eight years after,” Saakashvili wrote.

Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry reported that it does not obtain information on the location of Saakashvili in the territory of Georgia.

Earlier, Saakashvili reported that he intends to come to the motherland for upcoming elections to the bodies of local self-government on October 2.

However, it is not the first time, when he promises the supporters to come to Georgia. The current authorities of Georgia warn the politician about the arrest in case of his arrival.

Saakashvili was the president of Georgia for two terms. In 2013, when his party lost, and his second term finished, Saakashvili left the country and never returned. He lived in Europe, the US and in Ukraine.

As of now, Saakashvili does not have the citizenship of Georgia as he was deprived of it after ge did not process the dual citizenship during the obtaining of Ukrainian citizenship.
