Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, during his working visit to New York to the 72nd United Nations General Assembly, met Ministers for Foreign Affairs of Sweden Margot Wallström and Poland Witold Waszczykowski. In the meeting, the ministers discussed deployment of a UN peacekeeping mission in Donbas, as the press service of Ukraine’s MFA informs.

Cooperation of Ukraine with Poland and Sweden within the UN was discussed.

“Pavlo Klimkin thanked his counterparts for consistent support of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, which these countries provide within the UN, other international organizations, and forums. The necessity of preserving political and diplomatic pressure on Russia as an aggressor and occupant country, as well as countering Russian destructive actions and propaganda were emphasized,” the President said.

As it was reported earlier,  Vladimir Putin instructed the Russian Foreign Ministry to introduce the draft resolution to the UN Security Council, as he believes such a mission could help resolve the conflict. Ukraine phrased its opinion on the subject, saying that it objects to having peacekeepers from Russia participating in the UN mission.
