Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba assured that Ukraine and its partners continue to work to prevent Russia from using the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline as a weapon. He stated this on the air of Ukraine 24 TV channel on Sunday, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

"Nord Stream 2 should be up and running long ago, but the fact that it still does not work and we are fighting with it is the result of our joint efforts. Together with our partners, we significantly slowed down the implementation of this project and gained a lot of time for better conditions in the confrontation with Russia," Kuleba emphasized.

According to him, Kyiv, the European Union and the European Commission will continue to demand that Nord Stream 2 comply with the norms of the EU's Third Energy Package. Although Moscow, with the help of its lobbyists and lawyers, is trying to get exceptions for the project to apply these rules.

On September 10, Gazprom declared that North Stream 2 was fully completed. Work on laying the Nord Stream 2 pipeline began in 2018. Its length is 1,230 km. The pipeline is expected to supply 55 billion cubic meters of gas annually from Russia via the Baltic Sea to Germany.

Today, On November 16, it became known that Germany has suspended Nord Stream 2 certification. The report states that in order to renew the certification, the Nord Stream 2 operator must have an organizational form in accordance with the laws of Germany.
