German Chancellor Angel Merkel assumes she would come back to science after the end of the unexpired portion of the term. She said that during her speech in HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management after receiving an honorary Doctorate of Economics. This was reported by Reuters.

“All universities that have given me an honorary doctorate will anyway hear from me again when I’m no longer chancellor,” Merkel said.

64-year-old Angela Merkel has been Chancellor of Germany since 2005.

“I will return and will not be staying for a short time like today. (I) will be staying longer,” she added.

There has been growing doubt that Merkel will get to serve her last term as chancellor in full.

Previously, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had talked on the phone with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
