The Verkhovna Rada adopted Resolution # 5343 on the commemoration of children who died as a result of the Russian armed aggression against Ukraine. The online broadcast of the plenary session can be viewed HERE.

Full text of the resolution:

Considering the fact that more than 240 children have died in the territory of various regions, including Donetsk and Luhansk, since 2014 as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine;

Taking into account that, despite the efforts of most countries in the world, children remain the main subjects of systemic discrimination, which is increases in crisis situations, in particular during armed conflicts;

Respecting the decision of the UN General Assembly, which under the auspices of the UN established the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression and decided to celebrate it on June 4 each year, and respecting the celebration of World Children's Day on June 1, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine decides to:

1. Honor on June 4 the memory of children who died as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine at the state level on International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression.

2. Recommend the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, within two weeks from the date of the adoption of this resolution, to develop and approve a plan of measures to commemorate at the state level the memory of children who died as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

3. Recommend local executive authorities to honor at the local level the memory of children who died as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine by naming educational institutions, out-of-school education institutions, toponymic objects.

4. Recommend the State Committee for Television and Radio-Broadcasting of Ukraine to organize thematic television and radio programs dedicated to commemorating the memory of children who died as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

5. Control over the implementation of this resolution shall be entrusted to the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy.

6. The resolution comes into force from the date of its adoption.
