Viktor Ohneviuk, the member of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, called on the Central Election Commission of Ukraine to provide the document, which proves that presidential candidate Volodymyr Zelensky knows the Ukrainian language. Viktor Ohneviuk wrote on Facebook.

Ohneviuk reminded that according to the article 103 of the Constitution of Ukraine, the president can become a citizen of Ukraine aged 35, has the right to vote, has been living in Ukraine for the last 10 years and knows the state language.

“I doubt that presidential candidate Volodymyr Zelensky knows the Ukrainian language. I call on the Central Election Commission of Ukraine to publish the document, which proves he knows the language, in order not to violate the constitution of Ukraine in case Zelensky wins,” the member of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine wrote.

Earlier, the Law of Ukraine “On Election of the President” does not stipulate that candidates for the post of the president must have a good proficiency of Ukrainian language; it indicates as a necessary requirement for them to speak the state language.
