Ukraine and Russia hold the first major peace summit since 2016. Normandy Quartet country leaders would discuss the return of all Ukrainian prisoners, a ceasefire, control of the Ukrainian-Russian border and local elections in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
The start time of the meeting of the Normandy Four was postponed for at least half an hour.
As we reported, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Russian President Vladimir Putin have come to the capital of France on December 9, to hold talks for the first time in three years.
The peace negotiations, known as the Normandy format, started back in 2014. The last Normandy Four meeting took place in October 2016, the roadmap on establishing peace in Ukraine was elaborated, however, the parties failed to fulfill it.
