The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported bill #3376-1, which provides the state insurance for employees of the medical and academic institutions who got the degree of disability or died due to the coronavirus. 340 MPs supported the decision as 112 Ukraine TV channel reported.
“The bill was elaborated to increase the level of the social guarantees of rights of medical and other employees involved in the sphere of the protection of the population from infectious diseases and members of their families,” the explanatory note says.
In case of the determination of the disability group during a calendar year resulting from the infection with coronavirus disease under the condition that such infection is tied with the performance of professional duties in terms of the increased risk of the infection – the sum of the compensation depends on the determined disability group and degree of loss of the professional working capacity but not less than 630,600 hryvnia ($23,528) and in case of death 1,576,500 million hryvnia ($58,820).
According to the document, in case of the infection of a worker, the insurance payment is appointed and paid to an employee during a month since the occurrence of the right for insurance payment. But in case of a death of a worker, the insurance payment is appointed and paid one time in equal parts to the members of the family, parents and dependants of the deceased worker during a month since the occurrence of the right for insurance payment. The members of the family and parents of the deceased worker are determined in accordance with the Family Code of Ukraine.
In case of the death of a worker due to the infection with the coronavirus disease during quarantine or restrictive measures tied with the spread of the coronavirus disease, such a medical worker is equated to a military who served and who died due to wound, concussion, injury, disease tied with the fulfillment of commitment of the military service.
Moreover, the committee offers to provide the possibility to pay such payments to the medical students of final years and interns who are involved by state and public health establishments to the fight against coronavirus disease Covid-19 on contracts.
As we reported, the Verkhovna Rada supported bill #3380, which allows involving interns and doctors without confirmed qualification to the fight against coronavirus on a voluntary basis.
