The Committee on Health of the Nation, Medical Care and Health Insurance considered the On the Medical Commissioner draft law5475 and recommended the Verkhovna Rada to support this document in the first reading. The press service of the parliament reported this.

“The Committee decided to recommend to the Verkhovna Rada to include the draft law of Ukraine in the agenda of the fifth session of the Verkhovna Rada and, based on the results of the first reading, to adopt it as a basis, taking into account the Committee's proposals on amendments to other laws that were not the subject of the first reading,” the statement says.

The draft law proposes the creation and settlement of the legal status of the Commissioner for Medical Affairs as a new subject of state control over the implementation of the rights of patients and medical workers, as well as a mediator in resolving conflicts between them.

And it also defines the order of appointment of the Commissioner, requirements to the candidate for the given position, his basic powers, and rights.

As it was reported earlier, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appointed Viktor Lyashko as the Health Minister. 262 MPs supported his candidature.
