Rallies dedicated to the fifth anniversary of the tragic events on Odesa Kulikovo Field are held peacefully, as Viktoria Navrotska, Deputy Director of the Communication Department of Ukraine’s Internal Ministry, said at the briefing broadcasted by 112 Ukraine

“The situation is under control, events are conducted on Kulikovo Field. 200 people took part in them,” she noted.

According to Navrotska, in total, 2,500 law enforcers maintain public order in the city.

First Deputy Internal Minister Serhiy Yarovy said the law enforcers did not get any information about mining and conflicts.

“Moreover, we passed information to media yesterday. We provide information about the state of affairs in time. We are ready to solve the problems we might face. We have discussed it when we were planning the events,” Yarovy said.

Dumskaya.net reported that people could join the rallies freely, yet they were inspected with the metal detectors.

On May 2, 2014, 48 people died and over 250 sustained injuries in mass unrest in Odesa. Most of the victims died in the Trade Union House.

On September 18, 2017, twenty participants of tragic events in Odesa on May 2, 2014, were found not guilty of organizing those clashes. The court decision triggered new clashes between activists from pro-Ukrainian organizations and law enforcers in Chornomorsk, Odesa region.
