The situation in Europe has sharply worsened against the background of the spread of the Delta strain and holding football competitions with spectators. This was reported by the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NAS).

The National Academy of Sciences noted that two weeks ago the epidemic situation in Europe was improving (except for Russia, Portugal and Great Britain). But now the situation has changed in another direction. There is now an increase in morbidity almost all over Europe.

"The situation in Europe has significantly deteriorated. There is good reason to believe that the catalyst for such deterioration were mass events related, in particular, to the European Football Championship," the NAS said.

At the same time, in European countries, where the incidence has increased too rapidly, there is also a significant participation of young people in the epidemic process. It is known that the increase in morbidity in Finland is largely due to football fans who came from Russia. The picture is similar in the Netherlands, where in 1-2 weeks the incidence has increased almost 10 times and was almost completely concentrated in the age groups up to 29 years.

Meanwhile, at the end of last month, there was an increase in mortality in Ukraine. The reason for this could be abnormal heat.
