Martial law imposed in ten Ukrainian regions has not influenced the lives of the citizens, as President Poroshenko said at the meeting of the National Security and Defence Council, broadcasted by 112 Ukraine.
“I stress again: as it was promised a month ago, martial law had no influence on the everyday lives of the Ukrainians. It did not lead to restriction of rights and freedoms. As I promised, it did not influence the economy, as we were scared of that possibility,” Poroshenko noted.
At the same time, he added that the threat of Russia’s intervention did not disappear.
“And maybe, if it weren’t for elections, we would ask the Verkhovna Rada (the Ukrainian Parliament, - 112 International) to prolong this martial law. Yet, we have done a lot for enhancing the defence capacity within this month in the conditions of the martial law,” the President stressed.
Today, on December 26, martial law imposed in ten regions of Ukraine is over.
