An armed offender was detained in the Holosiivsky district of the capital. He injured a patrolman and a civilian and then locked himself in an apartment and set it on fire. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
It is noted that patrol police officers reacted to a call about the conflict in the apartment on Holosiivsky Avenue. At the scene, the owner of the apartment fired a shotgun at police.
In the incident, the law enforcement officer received a gunshot wound in the hand, and another man got an injury in his face. After that, the attacker locked himself in the apartment.
"Currently, a special police operation has been announced in the capital to detain the perpetrator. The victims are being provided with the necessary medical assistance. All measures are being taken to detain the offender. Special forces have been involved," Kyiv Police Chief Andriy Kryshchenko said.
At the same time, a relative of the shooter said that the shooting started because some people illegally tried to wanted to take from 38-year-old man the apartment where he lived. According to the shooter's brother, "people in black" tried to break into the apartment by force, so he called the police.
"Yes, we called the police immediately because they wanted to take our apartment illegally. We don't mind opening the door, letting the police in, but please let us have a lawyer and a legal explanation for everything that is happening. There was a repeated trial. The apartment was put for SETAM illegally, when the courts were closed, during the lockdown, the apartment was sold. After that, a lawsuit was filed on appeal, we won two trials, and now only a lawyer can say exactly how things are, " a shooter’s relative said.
Dmytro claims that the apartment was sold illegally and they proved it in court, so they have every right to live here.
It later became known that the man had set fire to his apartment. Residents of the house were evacuated.
"During the negotiations, the attacker set fire to the apartment where he was locked up. Rescuers from the State Emergency Service took measures to eliminate the fire.
The attacker has been detained. It is unknown at this time what punishment and precautionary measures the perpetrator will receive.
