Police and Rapid Operational Response Unit (KORD) detained a man who threw a grenade at a patrol team in Rubizhne, Luhansk region. He was hiding in his own apartment, in a bed box, the press service of the National Police of Ukraine reports.

This morning, a patrol police squad stopped a moped driver to check his documents. The driver, upon seeing the police, threw a grenade at them and disappeared from the scene. Fortunately, police did not suffer from the grenade explosion.

Given the audacity of the crime and the fact that the man poses a threat to the population, a special operation was announced to catch the perpetrator, the police of Luhansk region were alerted.

Law enforcement officers established that the malefactor used an RGD-5 grenade. An RGD-5 grenade and pistol were also found at the scene, which he threw away while fleeing from police. As a result of the operative and search measures, the offender was found. KORD soldiers detained him in his own apartment, where he was hiding in a bed box.

This man has been repeatedly convicted of serious crimes.

The special operation was completed, investigators opened a criminal case. Now the man was taken to a temporary detention center, where he will be investigated until a pre-trial detention measure is chosen.
