In the town of Ivanivka, Kherson region, police detained a 45-year-old man who locked himself in his own house and threatened to blow it up. Two RGD-5 grenades were confiscated from him. Law enforcement officers conducted a special operation, the press service of the police reports.
“On September 13, at about 4:22 a.m., the Unified Center 102 of the Kherson region Police received a message from a resident of Ivanivka. The woman said that her 45-year-old husband had barricaded himself in the house and was threatening to blow up the house,” the statement reads.
Police working at the scene found that the man lived with his wife and four children. During a family quarrel, the suspect took an object resembling a grenade and began threatening relatives. Then the woman and children left the house and called the police.
The man locked himself on the second floor of the house and refused to leave. Police surrounded the area near the house and took people to a safe distance.
Serhiy Baluta, the head of the Henichesk District Police Department, said that during long negotiations, police managed to persuade the man to return the grenade.
“The citizen was detained. During the search, police found another RGD-5 grenade in his pocket,” Baluta states.
Policemen inspect the house of the malefactor for detection of other forbidden subjects. The causes and details of the incident are being established.
