In Kyiv region, as a result of the fire, five hectares of forest planting in the exclusion zone have burned out. It took place in the result of the incineration of dry grass and garbage as Kyiv National Police reported.

“The message about combustion of grass flooring in the territory of Kotovsky forest warden, which is the situation in the territory of the exclusion zone, was received by the police of Kyiv region from the rescuers. The employees of the State Emergency Service and special equipment were involved in the liquidation of fire. They succeeded to localize fire in a few hours,” the message said.

The police identified the perpetrator of the fire. It turned out to be a 27-year-old citizen of Rahivka. He explained that he set fire to grass and garbage at three places for fun. Then, the fire was spread by wind further and he failed to extinguish it.

The criminal proceeding is opened due to the destruction or damage of plants. It is decided to serve the man with charges. The investigation takes place.

On April 4, a large-scale forest fire began in Chornobyl exclusion zone. The fire claimed the area of ​​20 hectares.
