President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron welcomed the decision of the United States to participate in the negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in eastern Ukraine in Normandy format. He stated this during a press conference following a meeting with European Council President Charles Michel in Paris, Ukrinform reports.

“Normandy format remains in force, it is a proper platform for resolving the crisis in Ukraine. In this context, the US involvement in this process is a good sign that we should welcome. Negotiations between the United States and Russia are ongoing, and they concern not only Ukraine but also collective security between the two forces, "Macron said.

At the same time, he said that the situation with Ukraine and Russia was a major international problem. Macron and EU Council President Charles Michel discussed the EU's action plan for the coming weeks and months, which would provide for a solution.
