President of France Emmanuel Macron assured Volodymyr Zelensky he would push the issue related to death of four Marines in Normandy group meetings. The issue will be discussed during the meeting between Macron and Russia’s President Vladimir Putin on August 19. This was stated by Emmanuel Macron during the phone converstion between him and Volodymyr Zelensky, as the Élysée Palace’s official website reports.
“The President of the French Republic assured him (Zelensky – ed.) that France is fully aimed at the results in a short time within the work in the Normandy format. He said he would push the issue during the meeting with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on August 19,” the message reads.
Macron expressed his condolences to the Ukrainian President relating to the recent death of four Marines in Donbas zone. Speaking about settlement of the conflict, he praised Zelensky for the “constructive actions and underlined the necessity to develop the success reached in the last weeks”.
Macron will meet the President of the Russian Federation on the south of the country in Fort de Brégançon castle in French Riviera. This castle is the French presidents’ summer residence.
