Macron congratulates Poroshenko and Ukrainians on Independence Day

French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated his Ukrainian colleague Petro Poroshenko and Ukrainian citizens on the Independence Day. Reads the message of the press office of the Ukrainian Leader. 

‘President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron directed a congratulation letter to President Petro Poroshenko on the occasion of the Independence Day of Ukraine. The President of France congratulated the Leader of Ukrainian State and all Ukrainian citizens on the anniversary of the independence and wished prosperity and peace,’ reads the message.

In his letter, Macron noted that France stands by Ukraine in searching of the sustainable resolution of the conflict, which takes place in Donbas. 

Macron reaffirmed the commitment of France, as well as the EU, to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine in its internationally recognized borders. 

He also noted that France would not admit the Crimean annexation by Russia, and thinks that the revision of force is contrary to international law.

The French President also stressed that Ukraine showed courage and perseverance by choosing the way of ambitious reforms, the first results of which should be welcomed. 

According to him, the full implementation of the Agreement on the Association with the EU should demonstrate the mood of Ukraine for the successful completion of this reform impulse.

‘You can rely on the support from the French side to help you with the realization of this demanding reform program and accompany Ukraine on the path of deepening its partnership with the European Union,’ Macron claimed. 

He wished that the friendship and trust links that unite Ukraine and France, grew stronger in the future. 

Noteworthy, the Independence Day of Ukraine is marked annually on August 24.
