President of France Emmanuel Macron agreed with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky on the necessity of Normandy Format meeting after the escalation in Donbas, as four Ukrainian servicemen lost their lives, as the President’s Office reported.
“Emmanuel Macron expressed full support for the initiatives of Ukraine, agreed with the necessity of the immediate holding of the meeting at the highest level, which should be preceded by the meeting of the official representatives of all four parties,” the message said.
Macron added that he would communicate with Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel to agree with this initiative.
Besides, Zelensky informed the French president that it was not the first shelling, which aims to disrupt the peace process.
Moreover, Zelensky shared his talk with Putin, during which he urged to fulfill the commitment on a ceasefire, the return of sailors and other prisoners.
On August 6, the militants shelled the Ukrainian positions near Pavlopil in Donbas. Four Ukrainian soldiers sustained wounds incompatible with life and died at the site. The engineering work took place during the shelling.
