Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office

Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko signed the decree, prohibiting searches of large taxpayers without consent of Prosecutor General’s Office. He reported this during the briefing in Zhytomyr, broadcast by 112 Ukraine TV channel.

"I am not happy with the fact that the raids by masked police occur every day in dozens of enterprises, including the large taxpayers and small businesses. Thus, I have just signed the document ordering that any searches of large taxpayers take place solely with the permission of Prosecutor General’s Office. Now there will be responsible people, when electronics from a trade network is seized to wait for "negotiators" to come and close the case. If searches take place, while the case is closed in half a year, I will consider this an illegal pressure on business," he said.

Lutsenko stressed that business in Ukraine should become "a sacred cow". "Those, who pay taxes, support heavy social, military situation in Ukraine, must be protected. Special system of control was created for this purpose," Prosecutor General explained.
