Ukrainian director Loznytsia's Donbass movie in Oscar long-list

Ukrainian drama Donbass by Serhiy Loznytsia is in Oscar’s long-list, as the Ukrainian Oscar Committee reported on Facebook.

The movie will compete in the category “Best Foreign Language Film.”

“American Academy announced the list of countries, which passed the qualification for the participation in the category “Best Foreign Language Film.” 87 countries will participate this year. Ukraine takes part with Loznytsia’s Donbass,” the message says.

Donbass tells about the life at the occupied territories in the east of Ukraine.

It is expected that the American Academy Awards will release the short-lists on January 22, 2019. The ceremony will be held on February 24 in Los Angeles.

As it was reported, the American Academy Awards established a new Oscar nomination.
