Lockdown in Ukraine: New restrictions in "red" zones

More and more regions of Ukraine are moving into the "red" quarantine zone and imposing restrictions on unvaccinated visitors to restaurants, gyms, cinemas, as well as employees of various organizations and institutions

We have compiled for you a list of areas that are in the "red" zone at this time. We also tell you which cities and regions were ahead of the official entry into the "red" zone and the local commissions for emergency situations introduced restrictions in advance.

Which areas are "red" now

As of today, there are eight areas in the "red" quarantine zone:

  • Donetsk;
  • Dnipropetrovsk;
  • Zaporizhzhya;
  • Mykolaiv;
  • Odesa;
  • Rivne;
  • Sumy;

On Wednesday, October 27, the National Commission for Emergency Situations decided to transfer seven more regions to the "red" zone from October 30. Thus, from 00:00 Saturday to these eight areas will be added more:

  • Zhytomyr,
  • Ivano-Frankivsk,
  • Kyiv,
  • Luhansk,
  • Khmelnytsk,
  • Chernihiv,

On Saturday, there will already be 15 "red" regions in Ukraine.

Lviv introduced its own restrictions since October 18, although it was "orange" in terms of epidemic indicators. They have strengthened the quarantine for the service industry - all workers in the service, trade, and entertainment industry must be vaccinated or do PCR or antigen tests every three days.

A number of other restrictions concerning visitors are planned to be introduced from November 1.

Lviv mayor Andriy Sadovy announced that on October 28 the city commission for emergency situations "will make difficult decisions" and will publish its new plan for restrictions, because of the Lviv region. October 30 will officially turn "red". It is already known that even stricter ones will be added to the restrictions of the "red" zone.

Khmelnytsky and Ternopil regions have also strengthened quarantine without entering the "red" zone. Khmelnitskaya - from October 23, Ternopil - from October 21.


all markets operate on the basis of 1 person per 10 sq. m and if employees have a negative test or a document confirming vaccination against Covid-19 with at least one dose of vaccine;

shops, supermarkets - 1 person per 10 sq. m, distance - 2 m and if workers have a negative test or a "yellow" certificate;

hairdressers, beauty salons - workers need a test or a "yellow" certificate;

hotels, hostels - employees need a test or a "yellow" certificate;

bars, restaurants, cafes - test or "yellow" certificate from employees. Visitors are allowed only with a test or a "yellow" certificate. Occupancy - 50%, based on no more than 4 people at the table. You cannot work from 23:00 to 06:00 (except for delivery and takeaway);

all public events - organizers and visitors have a test or "yellow" certificate;

gyms, fitness centers, swimming pools - employees, visitors have a test or "yellow" certificate;

cultural institutions, cinemas - workers and visitors need a test or "yellow" certificate.

Ternopil region:

a ban was introduced on the operation of catering establishments, gyms, food, and non-food markets, shops, government agencies, as well as holding mass events in the absence of 100% vaccination or negative PCR test / express test among employees and visitors of establishments;

these rules also apply to inter-regional passenger transportation.

Chernivtsi region is still included in the "orange" zone, but the Regional State Administration has increased restrictions there since October 24: you can visit public institutions, entertainment events if you have a certificate of vaccination or a PCR test, a document that indicates recovery. Such restrictions also apply to public transport, irregular and regular transport in the region.

New restrictions are also coming in Kyiv, said the first deputy chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration Mykola Povoroznyk. The local commission on emergency situations for the introduction of restrictions will be assembled on October 29.

What are the restrictions in the "red zones"?

According to the rules of the "red" zone, visitors to shopping malls, cafes, restaurants, and cinemas must present certificates of two vaccinations or a negative test result. The unvaccinated should not be allowed in. All workers and organizers of working businesses, organizations of enterprises must be fully vaccinated ("green" certificate).
