The preparation for the mutual release of confirmed persons kept in occupied Donbas was announced by Darka Olifer, the Spokesperson of Ukraine’s Representative in Trilateral Contact Group Leonid Kuchma, on Facebook.
“In the humanitarian subgroup the location of 69 our citizens, whom we aim to release, is confirmed. In the establishments of the Ukrainian prison system, 208 people requested by the opposite side are kept,” Olifer wrote.
According to her information, the agreements reached to hold the work on two parallel directions as soon as possible: the judicial clearance and preparation for the mutual release of confirmed persons and further confirmation of detained people.
On July 16, the advisors of leaders of the Normandy Four member countries (Ukraine, Germany, France, Russia) agreed that Ukraine and Russia will exchange captives within a month.
Besides, U.S. Special to Ukraine Kurt Volker expressed hope that Russia would agree on prisoners’ exchange and if it works, this will result in direct cooperation of the presidents Zelensky and Putin.
