The list of the 47 Ukrainian and former Russian journalists and bloggers was published by the mass media. According to the Ukrainian special services, they were in danger as well as Arkadiy Babchenko whose death was recently staged by the Ukrainian law enforcers. Strana.ua published the list claiming it originates from the sources in the SBU.
The famous Ukrainian writers such as Yury Andrukhovych, Yury Vinnychuk, Vasyl Shkliar, Otar Dovzhenko, Larysa Nitsoi are in the so-called 'blacklist'.
Some of the people on the list were already questioned in the SBU. Earlier it was reported that Matviy Ganapolsky and Yevhen Kiselyov negotiated with the representatives of the special services. Journalists Osman Pashaev, Serhiy Ivanov, Yulia Mostova, the chief editor of 'Dzerkalo Tyzhnia', Aider Muzhdabaev, the Deputy Director General of ATR TV Channel and political observer Vitaly Portnykov also communicated with the special services.
Child writer Larysa Nitsoi confirmed that she was asked to come for the questioning in the SBU due to Babchenko's case.
Some of the people claim that the list is fake and they were not called anywhere. Particularly, blogger Oleksandr Volodarsky claimed this on Facebook.
The SBU insists that the list of 47 potential victims was not passed to the mass media.
'The list is the secrecy of inquiry proceedings', Olena Hitlianska, the spokeswoman of the SBU said to Ukrainian News.
However, she did not comment on the authenticity of the list published by Strana.ua. According to Hitlianska, she cannot do this as she is not familiarized with it.
On June 1 Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yury Lutsenko claimed that thank to the staging of the murder of Russian journalist Arkadiy Babchenko, the prosecution got the list of the famous Ukrainian and ex-Russian journalist who should be killed too. Totally, there are 47 people on the list.
On May 29 it was reported that Arkadiy Babchenko, a Russian journalist, was murdered in Kyiv. He was allegedly shot in his apartment. Ukraine’s police suggested that the murder of the journalist was connected with his professional activity. There were also reports on Russia’s connection.
Vasyl Hrytsak, the Head of SBU, at the briefing stated that Arkadiy Babchenko is alive, but the murder of Russian journalist was ordered by Russian special forces. Ukrainian citizen was enlisted for that.
On May 31, the suspected in the organization of Babchenko's murder was detained for two months without a right for the bail.
Earlier President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko claimed that he knew about the staging of Babchenko's murder. At the same time, the OSCE has condemned the fact that Ukrainian institutions spread fake information on the “murder” of Arkadiy Babchenko, a Russian journalist.
