‘Light the Candle’ action to be held on Remembrance Day of Holodomor Victims in Kyiv

Commemorating events in honor of Holodomor Victims will be held in Ukraine on November 23. This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration

The main commemorative events will start on the territory of the National Museum "Memorial to Holodomor victims" at 3 p.m on November 23.

At 4 p.m., a national minute of silence will be announced and after that, people all over Ukraine start bringing candles to the memorial to the victims as part of the 'Light the Candle' action. One can also light the candle in the window of the house.

Kyiv City State Administration reminded that nationwide tradition to put a burning candle in the window of homes to commemorate those starved to death was initiated in 2003 by famed historian, political scientist, Holodomor researcher James Mace.

As it was reported earlier, the premier of the movie about Holodomor 'Mr. Jones' is scheduled for November 28.
