Released from the Russian remand center Ukrainian sailors thanked the Ukrainian children who sent them the pictures, while the sailors were in captivity as 112 Ukraine reported citing Denys Hrytsenko, the Captain 2nd Rank.
“And really, the support of close people, letters of children is the particular story, particular impression. I cannot explain you the feelings when the Education Ministry sent us two A4 format packages with the letters of children,” Hrytsenko noted.
“For military men, it also was the emotional impulse and when we experience the hard times, personally I opened these envelopes and they brought the fortitude and will to me. I brought there some of them; I would like to show, maybe, some of the children will recognize. The vessels with support. It is, I would say, it is much, and it is our future, for them and for it we will do everything, I promise you,” the sailor added.
24 Ukrainian sailors and 11 political prisoners - already ex-political prisoners - captured by Russia over the past five years, returned to Ukraine. Faces of the released Ukrainian sailors, left activist Oleksandr Kolchenko, filmmaker Oleg Sentsov, journalist Roman Sushchenko, Crimean Tatar Edem Bekirov and the rest of former captives were seen in the crowd.
