Legal Committee recommends parliament to adopt draft law on constitutional amendments on EU, NATO integration

The committee of the Verkhovna Rada on the legal policy and justice recommends to the parliament to adopt the draft law on the enshrining of the state’s course on the full membership in the EU and NATO in the Constitution as the basis. Besides, the exclusion of the possibility of the rental of the military bases in Ukraine by the foreign states was also recommended to be adopted as Ukrainian News reported.

The MPs noted that the Constitution Court did not express any remarks to the document in the preamble.

On November 22, the president of Ukraine appealed to the Parliament urging to immediately consider the bill on amendments of the Constitution on the consolidation of the course of EU and NATO integration.

Earlier, the Parliament sent the bill on amendments to the Constitution concerning the EU, NATO integration plan with 321 votes on September 20, 2018.

According to the bill, the President of Ukraine is the guarantor of the implementation of strategic course of the state towards Ukraine’s full membership in the EU and NATO. In its turn, the Cabinet of Ministers provides the implementation of the strategic course of the state towards Ukraine’s full membership in the EU and NATO.
