Ex-Head of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeria Gontareva stated that the law enforcers hold searches at the place of her residence registration in Kyiv as Interfax-Ukraine reported.
“In Kyiv, at the place of the residence registration at Velyka Zhytomyrsa Street, the door was broke with a crowbar and 10 people wearing bulletproof vests hold the search. Yesterday the PrivatBank, today me…,” Gontareva reported.
She noted that there is anybody at the place of residence registration because she does not live there for almost a year. Gontareva added that her lawyer informed the Prosecutor General’s Office and State Investigation Bureau about her place of residence in London.
Gontareva is involved in the criminal proceeding opened on July 31, 2019, on abuse of official position by officials with a view to obtaining an unlawful benefit. The issue is about changing of monetary and foreign exchange policy registered in the regulatory framework of the National Bank of Ukraine on January 19, 2016.
The body of the preliminary investigation has objective grounds for Gontareva's questioning due to which the summons was sent to her on August 5. She had to be interrogated as the witness and came for questioning on August 12, 2019.
On August 15, the summons for Gontareva was sent once more; she had to come for the questioning on August 22. However, the ex-Head of the NBU ignored it without reporting a reason.
Valeria Gontareva headed the National Bank of Ukraine from June 2014 up to March 2018.
