U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed the interaction on the Syrian crisis, the situation in the Middle East and the implementation of Minsk agreements. This was stated by the representative of Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

"Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Tillerson held a meeting in New York on September 17. The sides discussed cooperation on the Syrian crisis and other aspects of the situation in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as the implementation of Minsk agreements," she told reporters at the end of the meeting.

The conversation between the foreign ministers of the two countries lasted 45 minutes. As noted, it was held on the initiative of the American side and had an informal character.

As it was reported earlier On Saturday, September 16, a phone negotiation between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson took place, as Russia’s MFA informs. The statement says the US initiated the talks.
