Latvia plans to organize a major international conference concerning the occupation of Crimea. The press service of the Verkhovna Rada reported this.

"Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk met with Vice Speaker of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia Dagmāra Beitnere-Le Galla, who is on an official visit to Ukraine. Together with the Ambassador of Latvia to Ukraine Ilgvars Kļava, the parties agreed to coordinate efforts within the Crimean Platform. In particular, Latvia plans to organize a major international conference on the occupation of Crimea as an example of a violation of international law," the message on the website said.

During the meeting, the Vice Speaker of the Saeima assured that Ukraine, its sovereignty and territorial integrity are very important for Latvia. According to her, the Latvian side is ready for active work within the framework of the Crimean Platform.

The participants of the meeting also discussed the issues of Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration and cooperation in the PACE within the framework of the Baltic+ format and the intensification of Ukraine's cooperation with the Three Seas Initiative.

Earlier, President Zelensky declared that by the end of this year Ukraine will bring the updated resolutions regarding Crimea for consideration of the UN General Assembly.

On October 6, Ukrainian political prisoner in annexed Crimea was put in an isolation cell for 10 days supposedly for violation of the regime. The prisoner has chronic diseases and a recent medical examination showed that his state deteriorates.
