The airport of Lithuanian capital Vilnius has adopted the correct writing of the Ukrainian cities. Now, the Ukrainian transliteration Kyiv will be used instead of the Soviet transliteration Kiev as well as Lvov was replaced with Lviv as Foreign Ministry of Lithuania reported.
“From now on, Vilnius Airport has adopted the correct writing of the cities of Ukraine #KyivNotKiev #LvivNotLviv,” the ministry reported.
Earlier press service of the EU Delegation to Ukraine reported on the transition to the use of Kyiv in the work electronic correspondence.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister launched a media campaign #CorrectUA to urge the world to use “Kyiv” instead of “Kiev”. The Ukrainian authorities also suggest that international media use purely Ukrainian spelling for such cities as Kharkiv, Odesa, Mykolaiv, and others, as well as 'Ukraine instead of the widespread mistake, 'the Ukraine'.
As we reported Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) company uses “Kiev” instead of “Kyiv” as this is an official transliteration of the International Air Transport Association.
