Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko announced new fares for transport. Authorities plan to set a tariff of 12 hryvnias ($0.44) for residents of the capital. Klitschko announced this on the air of the Kyiv TV channel.

"The price of 12 hryvnias ($0.44) is considered for Kyiv residents if you buy a ticket using the Kyiv Resident Card... If people buy a ticket for a large number of trips, it will cost 14 hryvnias ($0.51). If a person decides to drive once, then we can consider the price up to UAH 20 ($0.73)," Vitaly Klitschko said.

Kyiv resident card can be obtained by people who have official registration or employment in Kyiv. It is issued through the Oshchadbank network.

The mayor added that the issue of raising prices will be decided only after discussions, presentations and justifications. However, the fare will not increase until the end of the heating season.

"I would like to remind you once again: the same benefits that people receive - pensioners, beneficiaries, socially protected groups, children, members of the anti-terrorist operation - for them there are benefits of free travel on public transport," Klitschko added.

As it was reported, the fare in the Kyiv subway and ground public transport will rise to 20 hryvnias - more than twice - since January 1, 2022. At the same time, minibuses may become more expensive in the capital following public transport.
