Fire occurred in one of the buildings on the territory of Kyiv Pechersk Lavra on January 14. Ignition area makes 200 square meters, as Ukraine’s Emergency Service reported.

According to the preliminary information, fire started in one of the rooms on the second floor, then it spread on the roof.

“As of 5:30 pm, personnel involved in putting out the fire was taken out of the building for a safe distance as there is a possibility that it will collapse. Extinguishing is conducted outside,” the rescuers informed.

As Emergency Service Spokesperson Svitlana Vodolaga said on air of 112 Ukraine, the building is not located on the territory of Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, but it is a part of its architectural complex.

“The building was under reconstruction… It’s too early to talk about the reasons. Nobody got injured,” Vodolaga noted.
