Stepana Bandery Avenue in Kyiv will again become Moscovsky Avenue and Omelyanovych-Pavlenko Street – Suvorov Street. Such a decision was made by the District Administrative Court of Kyiv, canceling the decision of the Kyiv City Council of 2016.
"To recognize illegal and cancel the decision of the Kyiv City Council of July 7, 2016 # 559/559 "On renaming Streets, Avenues and Lanes in the City of Kyiv," the court's decision says.
According to the materials of the court, on July 7, 2016, Kyiv City Council at the 1st session of the 8th convocation adopted a decision # 559/559 "On renaming Streets, Avenues and Lanes in the City of Kyiv," which renamed: Bauman Street to Janusz Korchak Street; Kutuzov Street - to General Almazov Street, Suvorov Street - to Omelyanovych-Pavlenko Street, Kutuzov Lane - to Yevhen Hutsalo Lane, Moskovsky Avenue - to Stepan Avenue Bandera Avenue.
The plaintiff (Public Control and Order non-governmental union) asked to recognize illegal this decision and actions of Kyiv City Council, and cancel it.
On January 28, the court declared it illegal and canceled this decision of Kyiv authorities. At the same time, the court refused to recognize the actions of the Kyiv City Council as illegal when making this decision.
Kyiv authorities do not agree with such a court decision and intend to appeal the decision of the Kyiv District Administrative Court.
As noted by the Deputy Chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration Maryna Honda, the court's decision was made four years after the filing of the claim and is completely unfounded.
Kyiv City State Administration also noted that the decision of the Sixth Administrative Court of Appeal # 826/11910/16 established that the renaming of the aforementioned streets, lanes and avenues was carried out in the manner prescribed by the legislation of Ukraine.
