The high-speed railway express from Kyiv to Boryspil airport broke the next day after its launch. This is reported by the Hromadske news portal's correspondent from the scene.
"We left at 11:01 a.m. from the station, we had to arrive in 37 minutes (at 11:38, - 112 International), but we are still on the way. The airport is 5 km away, and now it is 12:15, and we are still standing here, "said the correspondent Vasyl Pehnyo.
According to the machinist, there was a problem with the engine in the train.
Information about the breakdown and the delay of transport is confirmed by passengers in the comments on Facebook.
Earlier on Saturday, the head of the Ukrzaliznytsia Yevhen Kravtsov urged everyone to use the express, given the difficult situation on the roads of Kyiv because of the snow. The respective post appeared on Facebook.
'Here is an advice: if you are going to the airport, then you should take only the Kyiv Boryspil Express. The price of tickets does not depend on centimeters of snow on the roads – it is fixed UAH 80 (USD 3). Taxi drivers are asking UAH 400 (USD 14), which is 5 times more expensive. Start the trip without traffic jams', Kravtsov wrote.
As 112 Ukraine TV channel reported, after an hour and a half, the express continued its way to the airport.
The representatives claimed that the apron and the airstrips are being cleaned, and anti-icing treatment of aircraft is carried out.
‘Therefore, the preparation for a departure/landing takes more time than ever. Changes in flight schedules are possible,’ reads the message.
The press office of the airport stated that this working mode will be retained for the period of fighting with the consequences of the snowfall.
