Special Envoy of the U.S. to Ukraine Kurt Volker responsible for the settlement of the situation in Donbas will visit Ukraine in September as Voice of America reported.
“The next visit of Kurt Volker to Ukraine is planned for September 13-16,” the presenter said.
The U.S. Special Envoy noted that Vladislav Surkov, the affiliate of the Russian president did not confirm the feasibility of the next meeting.
The last visit of the U.S. Special Envoy to Ukraine took place in May 2018.
The last meeting between Volker and Surkov took place on January 26, 2018, in Dubai. Surkov claimed that the American proposal on deploying UN peacekeepers in Eastern Ukraine that has been presented by U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker seemed attainable.
Earlier Volker claimed that Ukraine should extend law on the special status of Donbas. He admitted that the law was adopted, but never actually implemented. However, he stated that the U.S. does not support the idea of the holding of any kind of the referendums in occupied Donbas as it will not be legitimate.
