Kremlin explains why Poroshenko is not on sanctions list

The representative of Kremlin explained why the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko is not in the sanctions list. Press Secretary of Russia’s President Dmitry Peskov said it would be “beyond all reason” to impose sanctions against Poroshenko, TASS reported.

“As a rule, the presidents are not included in the sanctions lists. It is beyond all reason,” the representative of the Kremlin explained.

Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed an order which imposes sanctions against a list of physical and legal entities of Ukraine. 

President’s son Olexiy and Poroshenko’s Press Secretary Svyatoslav Tseholko were included in the list. Petro Poroshenko was not included in the sanctions list.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko gave effect to the decision of National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on individual sanctions against legal and physical entities related to the Russian aggression in Ukraine. The order was signed on May 14, 2018. It was published on the website of President’s Administration on May 18.
