The Kremlin confirmed the fact of "informal" talks with MP of Ukraine Nadia Savchenko on prisoners’ exchange and called Ukraine’s negotiations with militants "uncontested". This was announced by the press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov, writes UNIAN.
"In this case, such contacts cannot have interstate or some official status, but, of course, the Russian side was always willing to talk to someone who wants such dialogue. Whoever that may be," Peskov said.
Russia "always pointed out that a gradual establishment of the dialogue in any form between Kyiv and representatives of Donbas is uncontested, " he stressed.
Aswering the question whether Savchenko’s participation can lead to concrete results and the exchange of prisoners, Peskov said:
"This will depend on how much the President and Ukraine’s government attach importance to such contacts, and whether they can use these contacts to obtain information from first-hands".
Peskov could not name the person who negotiated with Savchenko from Russian side.
Earlier it was reported that Savchenko assured she did not promise anything on talks with Zaharchenko and Plotnitskyi. MP initiated the meeting and it was organized with a help of people cooperating with all sides of the conflict in Donbas.
