Kherson is haunted by odor: people complain about the stench in the air in all the districts of the city. The Department of Civil Security of the local regional administration supposes that it is a result of the disposal of poultry industry waste, left in the fields near the city. This was reported by Ukrinform agency.
“On August 7, we received a lot of complaints about the odor from citizens of all Kherson districts. The emergency department has found the bird droppings scattered on the field outside of byway near Muzykivka village. The poultry wastes were unloaded on the field almost kilometer long and the wind blowing in the city’s direction, brings the stench,” the department noted.
As a local 0552.ua agency notes, environmentalists are working at the site. The head of administration’s Ecology Department Yuriy Poputko said they had found a poultry farm responsible for this; it’s a poultry enterprise of Avangard agro-holding situated in Skhidne village.
“A car of the enterprise was found at the place of spontaneous bird droppings polygon. It was unloading the unprocessed wastes to the open field. The police is expected to arrive at the site soon,” the message says.
Meanwhile, Kherson residents continue complaining that their authorities do not inform them about the reasons of odor and solving the problem and announced a protest at 12:00 on August 9 near Kherson City Council.
As it was reported earlier, according to the State Emergency Service, the highest level of the combustion hazard will be observed across the entire territory of Ukraine - except of the highland area of the Carpathian mountains.
