"Kateryna Handzyuk was attacked this morning in Kherson. The man was waiting at the entrance and splashed acid at Kateryna. She has serious burns. She is in the hospital now, no details are available yet," Nikitenko wrote.
Meanwhile, Kherson police asked citizens to help identify the attacker and guarantee confidentiality.
"The police appeal to all citizens who could see a man in Kherson city Tavriysky neighbourhood on 49 Guards Division Street in the morning at about 8:30. The man splashed an unknown substance at woman’s face. The attacker was wearing a dark T-shirt, a dark cap, brown shorts and dark shoes, "the message said.
As it was reported earlier, a journalist Serhiy Nikitenko was beaten up next to a parking lot in Kherson region. Reportedly, the journalist was beaten up on May 26. The incident took place at the Svobody square downtown after the meeting organized to demand the release of Nadiya Savchenko.
'The perpetrators are two bearded men who were waiting for me at the parking lot. After the incident, they drove away on the car with a transit license plate. Police has the whole information. They were beating me up silently. I connect the incident solely with my job. I am always ready for this kind of situations. I saved myself by drawing knees up to my chest,' Nikitenko wrote in Facebook.
